The Friends of Buttonwood Park is an all-volunteer organization. That means we rely on people like you to help make our projects happen! No matter your age, ability, or available time, you can make a difference at Buttonwood Park by volunteering.
Scroll through our volunteer opportunities below, and then fill out the form to sign up as a volunteer. A board member will get in touch with you about upcoming volunteer opportunities that fit your interests and schedule.
TreeKeepers are a dedicated group of volunteers who water, weed, and mulch young trees. Each TreeKeeper is assigned a single tree to care for during the year. As a TreeKeeper, you’ll get an official smock to proudly wear while you carry out your work!
Buttonwood Park is a horticultural treasure. But to keep the park’s beautiful gardens looking their best, we need some help! If you have a green thumb and want to lend a hand, sign up to assist us with weeding and planting new flowers and bulbs.
As a tree walk guide, you’ll lead local children on a 45-minute walking tour of the arboretum at Buttonwood Park. These walks are part of our “Trees In Our Park” education program. If you love kids, trees, and teaching, you’ll enjoy volunteering as a tree guide.
As we plan our next big Buttonwood on the Move project to build a new nature trail, we need help keeping the woods clear of invasive plants and weeds. Volunteer to maintain the woods by doing trail work such as pulling weeds and cutting back unwanted plants.
Each May, we organize the annual Buttonwood Park Cleanup. Hundreds of volunteers help pick up litter, branches, and debris left after a long winter. Join us at this great springtime event — we even celebrate our hard work with an after-cleanup party!
As an all-volunteer nonprofit, The Friends of Buttonwood Park is always working to bring new funding to our park. If you have experience writing grant proposals, help us apply for funding for projects that will improve the park for all.
Help us get the word out about our programs and projects with a beautiful design! We’re always in need of assistance with graphic design, including newsletters, flyers, mailings, emails, and more. Best of all, you can volunteer on your own time.
